Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca town, since in its streets you can still see constructions dating back to the Inca era and which are currently used as housing by the inhabitants of the town.
The tour begins in the city of Cuscom as we pick you up from your hotel around 6:45 – 7:00 am. During this tour, we will have the opportunity to witness and learn more of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we will visit archaeological sites and craft centers. Our first stop will be in the peculiar town of Chinchero, where we will visit its main square and archeological complex, then we will continue our journey to Moray, this site has unique features has peculiar characteristics of which many chroniclers report that it was an agricultural research laboratory. All these due to the layout of its terraces that has a circular shape on each one of them where different microclimates can be found. As we progress with our visit, we will head towards Maras Salt Mines where we will be able to find more than 400 salt wells, this saline outcrops are located on the skirts of the famous mountain Kachi Qata. This mine had a highly value during the Inca time as much as in the colonial times, and it was used on daily basis as much as for the meet conservation (dehydrated meet).
After this amazing guided visit, we will move to Urubamba, where you will have one hour to indulge yourself in a delicious lunch. Once you have finished lunch, we will continue and reach the town of Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca town, nowadays some of the constructions can be appreciated for you as they are being used as the base of the many local houses. The next archeological site that we will visit is the Pisac, here we will be able to witness and appreciate its agricultural terraces, water fountains, religious center, urban center and Inca cemetery. To finalize our adventure then we will return back to Cusco at 20:00 approximately.
