Humantay lagoon (4200 m.a.s.l.), located at the foot of the mountain of the same name. This lagoon is famous because its waters have a turquoise hue, due to the minerals it has, we will take pictures and visit the surroundings and rest long enough to then begin the descent of the mountain.
The tour begins as we pick you up from your hotel between 4:00 – 4:30 am. The drive takes about 2 hours until reaching the small town of Mollepata (2900masl), once there we will enjoy of a wholesome breakfast, before we move forward Soraypampa located at 3900 masl. The starting point of our hike, here we will be able to hire horses if we feel unsure to walk to the top, later we will get ready to commence with our ascent for about 1.5 hours through the mountain until we reach finally the stunning Humantay Lake (4200masl), located in the feet of the Humantay mountain as well. This lake has become famous due to its turquoise coloring waters given by the minerals underneath. We will have plenty of time to capture amazing pictures from the lake and surroundings, as we rest to recover some energy for us to descend. On the way down, we will appreciate the Andean mountain range (the Vilcanota range where can be seen the Salkantay snowed peak), and also the rich flora and fauna. After our long but rewarding walk, we will indulge of a delicious lunch, before it is time to return back to Cusco.
